BRSR Sustainability Reporting Preparation
To prepare a BRSR reporting in India, first assess its applicability, which is mandatory for the top 1000 listed companies as per SEBI. Form an internal ESG team and appoint a coordinator.
Collect data across Environmental, Social, and Governance parameters, aligned with the 9 NGRBC principles. Conduct a gap analysis, prepare responses for Sections A (General), B (Management), and C (Principal-wise Performance), and complete SEBI’s BRSR sustainability reporting template and BRSR guidelines, as well as ensure completeness and accuracy. BRSR Report Format
The BRSR Report Format has three critical sections :
Management & Process Disclosure: Focuses on the details of the Company’s operations. It outlines the policy’s procedures and the measures to implement an ethical business meeting, with the promotion of environmental responsibility.
Principle-wise Performance Disclosure: The business is required to report on how compliant their Company is with the nine principles outlined under the National Guidelines on Responsible Business Conduct (NGRBC).

What is the difference between BRSR and ESG reporting?

Currently, the assurance is not mandatory for the general BRSR Report. SEBI’s BRSR Core Reporting related to ESG-labelled securities requires third-party assurance on select key indicators.
